Our Story

Roots Salon & Barbershack was born from a legacy of barbers and stylists that runs deep. The journey began 27 years ago with a pair of shears and a lot of hard work at a family barbershop in Cleveland’s Little Italy district. Carrying on the tradition of a mother, aunt, grandmother, and grandfather, each passionate about the craft, the name “Roots” was a natural fit. But the dream didn’t stop at just honoring the past—it blossomed in the heart of downtown Willoughby. In 2015, the vision became a reality, creating a space that not only celebrated tradition but also embraced innovation and diversity.

From its humble beginnings with just two stations, Roots rapidly grew from two to eight within its first year, becoming home to more than 30 talented stylists over the years. The salon’s eclectic atmosphere and commitment to inclusivity have made it a cornerstone of the community. At Roots, the belief is simple: everyone belongs. With a focus on changing lives one hairstyle at a time, Roots continues to be a place where both stylists and clients find a sense of family, creativity, and purpose.
